PTO Funds the Weather Bug

Did you know that DCC installed a new science-oriented addition at the start of the school year? A weather station was purchased and mounted to the top of the school. The Weather Bug, as it is called, was purchased with the funds that were raised at PTO's Spring 2009 Gala. It can be accessed at any time and comes with a curriculum for teachers to use in the classroom if they wish. Mr. Bramschreiber, Assistant Principal for the High School, said it made sense to have the Weather Bug since DCC is a school that puts a lot of emphasis on math and science.
DCC is the only high school in District 20 to have a Weather Bug and has the only high-definition camera in the region. The Weather Bug can be accessed by going to the school’s website and clicking on the DCC Weather Bug link. The webpage has many features. Just click on the weather cameras link and it will bring up a live shot from the camera that is mounted to the school. If you are interested in other areas of town or other places around the country, just type in another zip code. You can also get the forecast, severe weather, local weather alerts, national weather alerts, the Doppler radar, and more. KOAA- Channel 5 is also linked to the Weather Bug.
The Weather Bug is another great feature that DCC provides to students through PTO funds. Ask your student how they use the Weather Bug in their classes!
