Are You New to DCC?

Welcome!
The start of a new school year is always a crazy, hectic transition for everyone. And if you are new to the area or new to the school, your anxiety level is especially high with all the unknowns and concerns you may have. We know how it is! The kids must adjust to a new teacher, a new classroom, and meeting new friends. Meanwhile, we, as parents, run around frantically trying to find all the supplies on each child's back-to-school list. Then comes the bombardment of "Welcome" meetings: Welcome to kindergarten, Welcome to middle school, Welcome to high school, Welcome to PTO. It can be completely overwhelming and exhausting!
As the DCC PTO, we are trying to make things simple and as easy as PI-- that is Parent Involvement. As a parent of a child at DCC, you are automatically part of the PTO. We are a single organization serving to meet the needs of the entire Campus; the three interconnected schools, Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. We know how important you are in your child's educational experience at DCC, and how valuable your insights and contributions can be. We are here to help as much as we can to make your transition at DCC run more smoothly. That said, we also don't have all the answers to the questions you have, but we will try to get you connected with someone who can help you: a teacher, an administrator, a counselor, a coach, or even another parent.
We have several PTO Board members who are serving in the military, and so they can relate to the difficulties of frequent moves, the impact these have on the children, and the frustration of trying to navigate an unfamiliar school system. We also have members who have children that attended DCC when it first opened its doors, and so they have legacy knowledge and an appreciation of the growth and direction DCC is headed for the future.
DCC is a one of a kind school in the nation and is still very, very young. It will be in the growing stages for several years to come, and the PTO has to be flexible enough to accommodate for that growth. You can make a positive impact on the school. We need your open-minded perspectives, your support, and especially your involvement.
If you are willing to help in any way, download and fill out the DCC PTO Registration Form and send it in to any of the school’s offices (Elementary, Middle, or High school). You will receive a free Student Directory which is a valuable tool in finding contact information for your child's friends or even other parents at DCC.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any member of the PTO Board through the email or telephone contact information listed under the PTO Board menu.
Warmly,
Tobi-Lynn Arnold, PTO President
